Ciryl Gane's performance vs. Tai Tuivasa is proof that UFC heavy weights have reached their peak.
Ciryl Gane won the Fight of the Night battle by stopping Tai Tuivasa at 4:23 of the third round in the five-round main event of UFC Paris.
Gane looks like the prototype of what a modern heavyweight should be. At 6-foot-4, nearly 250 pounds, he’s got the perfect build.
For a round and a half, Ciryl Gane was showing off why he's considered the most technical heavyweight striker on the planet.
Then Tuivasa did find him with a winging right-hand midway through Round 2, and Gane fell backward to the canvas, stiffened.
Honestly, Tai hit me so hard he knocked me out. He put the lights out, I fell down, but I had to be a warrior. I got up ... and I came back even stronger", Gane said.
This was a hugely successful Paris debut for the UFC, partly because two of its top heavyweights put on a stirring performance.
Gane and Tuivasa showed martial arts spirit at its best. There was no bad blood. They smiled at each other throughout the match.
